Those fights and making up, struggling and overcoming, ups and downs, cold and warmth, hate and love and eternal love. As we watch movie characters fight for their love and overcome complications it leaves us spellbound. They bring several colours of relationships. They give us hope. They make us believe in love. It's funny how they conjure various emotions within us.

Yes, I am talking about my 10 most favorite movies on relationships and marriage. So, my suggestion to all brides to be is to watch these 10 movies and get your own lessons of love and marriage.

1. 500 Days Of Summer

Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) works as a writer with a greeting card company. A chance encounter with his boss's new assistant Summer (Zooey Deschanel) makes him believe that she might be the one for him. Summer, on the other hand, doesn't feel the same. It's a bittersweet story where two people with similar tastes fall in love for a short period of time. Although they're not meant to be together forever, this experience teaches them lessons about love and life.

2. The Notebook

In a nursing home, an elderly man reads a story from his notebook to another patient. The story that he reads is about two lovers Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) who are separated and reunited by fate time and again. This is a rather sappy movie where two people yearn for their lost loves. It conveys how true love never dies. It is about how we should savour the small but precious and beautiful moments of life. The movie is based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks of the same.

3. Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Minds

Joel (Jim Carrey) and Clementine (Kate Winslet) meet each other on a train journey. They click instantaneously and get together. It's only after a while that Joel starts to revisit memories of Clementine and realises that he knows her from somewhere. It is then revealed that they both are former lovers. After a brief fight, Joel and Clementine are left devastated and decide to get the memories of their relationships erased. No matter the number of fights two people have, it is their love that ultimately binds them together.

4. The Holiday

Two women Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Iris (Kate Winslet) decide to swap homes during the holiday season in order to escape their relationships issues. They both meet and fall for two local guys. The movie is about how the person meant for us is out there somewhere. We just need to have a little faith. Sometimes life can surprise us with unexpected twists.

5. Valentine's Day

This story follows a group of people who are either struggling to save their relationships or trying to find their special someone. There isn't much to go on about the movie's story because there's so much happening simultaneously. Honestly, it gets a little confusing in some parts. But overall it is a typical Gary Marshall film, with an ensemble cast who will win your heart with their power-packed performances.

6. The Lunchbox

This is a sweet story about how a widower Saajan (Irrfan Khan) and a young housewife Ila (Nimrat Kaur) get to know each other. Ila's tiffin (meant for her husband) accidentally gets delivered to Saajan. This mix up by the tiffin service people results in Saajan and Ila's friendship. They exchange letters and find temporary solace from their despondent lives. At some point in the story the characters decide to meet each other and leave for Bhutan. It's an open ended story about how people want to escape the monotony life offers and want to renew their hope.

7. Dum Lga Ke Haisha

Prem (Ayushmann Khurrana) reluctantly marries Sandhya (Bhumi Pednekar), an overweight but well-educated woman. He refuses to truly accept Sandhya as his wife because he has issues with her weight. There is a local race contest called Dum Lagao in which a husband is required to carry his wife on his back and run. It is this contest which finally brings Prem and Sandhya closer. It's a cute little story which teaches us that love comes in different sizes. It is all about what is in a person's heart. After all, people aren't always how they look.

8. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

The story begins with Naina (Deepika Padukone) reminiscing about a trekking trip that happened 8 years ago, how this trip changed who she was. She meets Kabir (Ranbir Kapoor), a fellow she went to school with during that trip. Naina develops feelings for him but is unable to express them as Kabir values his dreams more than anything else. Both of them meet 8 years later at a friend's wedding because fate has plans for them. This movie makes you cry and laugh at the same time. It's a story about love, friendships, togetherness, and bonding. There are moments in everyone's lives where we take things for granted. It's these moments that need to cherished above everything else because nothing is permanent in life.

9. The Vow

Paige (Rachel McAdams) and Leo (Channing Tatum) are a happily married couple. But one day a terrible car accident puts Paige in a coma. When she wakes up, she has absolutely no recollection about the past few years of her life. The rest of the story is about how Leo tries to make Paige remember who she is and how he tries to save their marriage which might end. The Vow is overall a decent movie with several heart wrenching moments. You keep rooting for a happy ending which eventually happens. The story tells us that sometimes life offers second chances to make things right.

10. Love And Other Drugs

Jamie Randall (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a pharmaceutical representative who meets Maggie Murdock (Anne Hathaway) a 26 year old suffering from early onset Parkinson's disease. They are a perfect match for each other. But Jamie's career and Maggie's condition prevent them from being together. Love and Other Drugs is a story which gives the message that no matter how much we push away love, it will come back to us in different ways. We shouldn't fight it. We should accept love when it shows up. We all need someone to grow with, someone who makes us a better person that who we already are.
