Unstoppable Gurpreet Wasi: Empowering Communities Through Running and Service
Marketing and running a marathon have quite a few things in common, both test your endurance, skills, and goal-achieving capabilities in a limited time window. Gurpreet Wasi, a passionate marathon evangelist, sports entrepreneur, and an accomplished marketer, has it all.
Marketing and running a marathon have quite a few things in common, both test your endurance, skills, and goal-achieving capabilities in a limited time window. Gurpreet Wasi, a passionate marathon evangelist, sports entrepreneur, and an accomplished marketer, has it all.
It all started with a group of like-minded friends joining her to run for the ‘Giving for Good’ campaign. They would converge at the chosen endpoint (hospitals, animal shelters, orphanages, etc) and engage in humanitarian services. The circle grew bigger and culminated in a half marathon called ONE RACE, a multi-city race with volunteerism at its core.
The biggest challenge was to build a sustainable platform that remained true to its core values and make a name in a male-dominated sports events business. She overcame this by building a strong team of believers, walking the talk, and being tough as nails while retaining her grace and warmth. Today ONE RACE Half Marathon is a Sports IP and one of India’s largest chains of multicity races with a footprint in 6 cities.
Amidst her entrepreneurial responsibilities, Wasi, leaning onto her faith’s tenet ‘for the good of all’, runs an NGO - Super Sikh Foundation that empowers people with disabilities and children from marginalized families.
With miles to go ahead, the unstoppable Gurpreet Wasi is committed to creating maximum impact in the shortest time and inspiring women to reach for the stars.
