This is where the Mandarin comes to the rescue. Oranges and winter are almost synonymous. Although, the concept of seasonal fruit is becoming an archaic concept, however, enjoying the golden sweet oranges during the winter has its different excitement.

So, coming to unexpected guests ? today we will learn to make a simple orange pudding. The ingredients are simple enough, and found in almost everyone's fridge. So, in between chatting, whip this delicious orange pudding to wow your guests.

For the Pudding

  • Butter, softened - 30 gm
  • Powdered sugar - 60 gm
  • Orange zest - 1 Tsp
  • All purpose flour - 30 gm
  • Fresh orange juice - 3 Tbsp
  • Eggs - 2 (white and yolk separated)
  • Milk - 140 ml

For the Sauce

  • Butter - 50 gm
  • Sugar - 50 gm
  • Orange juice - 1 orange
  • Honey - 2 Tbsp
  • Oranges - 2 (peeled and segmented)
  • Kafir limes, shredded - ¼ Tsp

Pure Cream to serve

Method of Preparation

For the pudding, first, preheat the oven to 250 degrees C. Then take a bowl and whisk together the butter and sugar until very well combined. To this fluffy mixture, add the orange zest and flour. Mix gently but thoroughly and then add the orange juice.

Next, add the egg yolks. Combine and then add the milk gradually. Finally, fold in the egg whites.

Pour this batter into a bowl.

In the oven tray, place an oven-proof dish with water. Now place the batter bowl in it. This process of baking is known as a bain-marie.

Bake this pudding at 200 degrees C for just 10 minutes.

The sauce is really easy to cook. In a pan cook the butter together until the butter melts and thoroughly combines with the sugar.

Add the orange juice and honey next. Cook the sauce until it thickens. Before taking it off the heat, add the kafir limes and orange segments.

Your sauce is ready.

Serve it hot, pouring the sauce from the top.

This dish is really winter on a plate. Bright colors, and strong flavors but most important, this pudding is fairly easy to prepare.

So, this festive season doesn't sweat about what to serve the guests to create a knock-out impression. This orange pudding might not sound like a delicacy but is sure to win hearts for you.
