In the dynamic world of leadership, being a boss lady comes with its own set of challenges and triumphs. As a strong boss ladies, you decide what you want, set your work schedule and even design your way of life. That makes you solely responsible for your personal and business progress, goal setting, and performance. This journey is often exhilarating, but there are times when the demands of leadership can leave even the most formidable boss lady feeling drained. How to stay motivated in the midst of this fast-paced environment while multitasking?

As Sophia Amoruso once said,

“Know that there is no finish line; fortune favors action. Race balls-out toward the extraordinary life that you've always dreamed of or still haven't had time to dream up. And prepare to have a lot of fun along the way.”

So, to help you learn how you can stay motivated every day as a Boss Lady, regardless of what life throws at you, let's explore some practical and easy-to-implement steps for sustaining that Boss Lady energy.

Define Your Purpose and Vision:

To stay motivated as a boss lady, it's crucial to have a clear understanding of your purpose and vision. Define your long-term goals and the impact you want to make in your industry. Knowing the 'why' behind your actions provides a powerful source of motivation during challenging times. Regularly revisit and revise your goals to ensure they align with your evolving vision.

Set Clear Goals

The first step towards staying motivated is having a clear vision. Set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals for yourself and your team. These goals act as a roadmap, providing direction and purpose.

Start by Making a To-Do List

Mornings are usually the most difficult to start when you don’t feel like doing anything. However, we’ve found that prioritizing a few simple tasks at the top of a to-do list helps get started. 

Getting one or two things done first thing in the morning will help you feel more motivated. There are so many tools out there - Google Calendar and Outlook Calendar which you can sync with the to-do list on your phone or any other app. I personally like writing them down in my notepad as well as mark in my Outlook Calendar. So, hello there, ladies! Take out your notepad and pen and start checking off your to-do list almost always makes you feel better.

Celebrate Small Wins


We tend to be harsh on ourselves. Acknowledging and celebrating our small achievements creates a positive mindset and keeps us motivated. 

Ok..How do I celebrate my small wins? - Take a break and listen to my favorite song, go out with friends on the weekend, treat myself to a hair spa or a coffee, thank God, myself, and everything that helped me. Oh! There is so much out there that I need to pen a separate blog for this. What I mean is -recognize your small efforts, appreciate yourself, and fuel your further success.

Keep Learning and Growing

Stay ahead of the curve by investing in your own personal and professional growth. Attend workshops, read books, take courses, and network within your industry. I try to learn anything that can help me grow in my area and as a person. And then, share your newfound knowledge with your team and those who need to know. This will make you growth-ready and motivated.

Prioritize Self-Care

Being a boss lady often means juggling multiple responsibilities, but don't neglect your own well-being. Prioritize self-care, including exercise, nutrition, sleep, and relaxation. Sleep well, and take a day off. That means, avoiding working on Sundays. I made that mistake for many years only to realize that I needed a break. I needed myself and my awesome family too. A healthy leader is a motivated leader.

Visualize Success

“I create a mental picture of where I want to be and use it as a source of inspiration during challenging times.”

Take a Look at the Big Picture. When things don’t appear to be working out for you, I know looking at the larger goal is easier said than done. But it is possible if you plug into the power of visualization. Visualizing your goals and imagining the success of your team can be a powerful motivator.

For example, if you want that book published by a prestigious publishing house, write it down in large letters on your desk. This will act as a simple but effective reminder of the ultimate goal, motivating you when you need it most.

 

Reward Yourself

While focusing on the big picture is a great way of motivating yourself, don’t forget to congratulate yourself on achieving big milestones. So, set bigger rewards for yourself for accomplishing tougher or challenging goals.

For example, when I decided to launch my storytelling platform - Howdy! How Did I Do It, it was a big responsibility. Once, I successfully accomplished it with the help of my team, I just gave myself a week’s holiday. Likewise, you can reward yourself by dining out at a nice restaurant, taking a dream vacation, or buying that dress you've been eyeing for a long time.

Have a Designated Workstation

Stirring work and personal life and trying to achieve a healthy work-life balance can be a death knell for a Boss Lady. Setting up your workspace will not only help you stay motivated and focused, but it will also allow you to stay organized.

For all of you side hustlers, stay-at-home moms, wives, and entrepreneurs, having a designated workspace will make it much easier to stay on track and get work done efficiently.

Plug into your Favourite Songs

Everyone has a pump-up jam or person they listen to when they feel demotivated. So, play your favorite song or listen to your go-to TED talk and get going with the day!

I listen to music from my first love and also 2-3 inspirational podcasts a week. Sometimes, when you hear others’s stories you know that everyone has challenges. They lend up teaching you some life-changing lessons. Don’t they?

Happiness doesn't have to be a nebulous concept or an illusion you endlessly chase. You'll be one step closer to realizing your happiness and discovering significance in all you do by identifying your actual goal and staying motivated for it.

Remember, ladies, that you are in control of your life and can make the necessary changes to motivate and reward you professionally and personally.
